Unlocking Potential: Research and Analysis for Healthcare Innovators
Let’s make your healthcare business SMARTER.
Insights as a Service is the bespoke business strategy consulting offering for healthcare companies that you NEED to make smart decisions.
How I Work
-

FIRST: DISCOVERY
We hop on a call or meet up for a snack and I ask questions about your business needs. What is keeping you up at night that a little data and analysis could improve? How can I help you make smarter decisions to help your business succeed?
-

SECOND: SCOPE THE PROJECT
I put together a specific question (or set of questions) to answer, a timeline, and a budget. We make adjustments so everyone is happy. Contracts are signed and I am off to the races (or diving into my work.)
-

THIRD: RESEARCH & DELIVERY
I spend time digging into trusted and relevant sources of truth — anything from peer reviewed journals to federal policy to market research databases — to conduct my research. Then I analyze my findings and create a final report with strategic suggestions for your company.
Example Client Project #1
The Client: (It’s a secret.)
🤓The Question: “What’s working in digital health obesity treatment?”
🏢The Audience: The board of a national weight loss company
💻The Research sources: PubMed (scientific journals), competitor websites and public research, private client research studies, Google Scholar
👩🏼💻The Deliverable: A slide deck outlining how the company’s science, marketing, offerings and interventions stack up against best practices and market share. There was room for growth based upon the latest science which informed the future product strategy.
⏱️The Timeline: 6 weeks
I Can Answer Questions About…
Healthcare policy and how it effects reimbursement or growth plans
Market Trends: Analyzing current and emerging trends that could impact the market, such as technological advancements, regulatory changes, and shifts in consumer preferences.
Communicating value to future clients. What makes you stand out from the competition and how you can communicate that effectively.
Science and Evidence: What we know based upon clinical research about what is working for patients in the world of health technology.
Why I’m the Perfect Partner
-

I Save Time
Whether you have 5 people or 500, staff time is a rate limiter for deep dives.
-

I Bring Healthcare Specific Expertise
I only work in healthcare and under it’s complexities. When it comes to research I can tell the difference between a credible source and junk.
-

I Go Beyond Generative AI
Consumer AI tools only access publicly available internet content. I access data behind paywalls, within government databases, and from subscription services.
-

I Provide Value
We determine a flat rate per project, so there are no surprises when it comes to billing.
Example Client Project #2
The Client: SimpliFed
🤱The Background: Simplifed, a telehealth platform, connects families with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for virtual lactation and infant feeding support. The platform is available directly to consumers via the SimpliFed website. Driven by a desire for health equity and to provide breastfeeding support to moms that need it the most, SimpliFed set a goal to partner with state Medicaid plans.
🤓The Question: But which states should they focus on? Not all states provide lactation support as part of their Medicaid plan benefits packages, and there is variability among hospital-based, clinic-based, and home-based coverage. Breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates vary widely by state, as well as WIC infant feeding support programs. Legislation governing independent practice and reimbursement of IBCLCs also differs by state. SimpliFed needed a complete policy map and recommendation for how to prioritize business development efforts and identify potential '“SimpliFed friendly” states.
💻The Research Sources: Close to 100 (!) including Federal Medicaid coverage legislation and State Medicaid coverage policies for all 50 states, Kaiser Family Foundation research, peer reviewed journal articles fromPubMed, and CDC maternal and child health population data.
👩🏼💻The Deliverables: I conducted the research, analyzed the data, and presented 5 focus states for business development efforts based upon a “SimpliFed friendly” score I developed. Then, I created a variety of pitch decks and white papers that included data around the factors contributing to the likelihood of a woman successfully breastfeeding, maternal preferences for digital health tools, the role that professional support plays in increased breastfeeding rates, and state statistics to be used for business meetings.
👀The Results: In just over 2 months, SimpliFed gained a massive market map to inform and guide their business development plans, beautifully designed and compelling pitch decks, and marketing collateral to present their value proposition to state legislators, health plans, and hospital systems. Within 2 weeks of receiving deliverables, SimpliFed signed a hospital partnership in one of their target states.
⏱️Timeline: 6 weeks for research, 4 weeks for market map, white paper, and pitch deck.

FAQs
What’s the process like?
We meet and I understand your business’s challenges as well as what you are hoping to get out of working with me. I put together a proposal outlining the project scope, timeline, and budget. We work together on finalizing the SOW, sign a contract, and are off to the races. I provide weekly status updates on progress through the final deliverable.
Do your findings belong to me?
All of my projects are work for hire, which means that the research and final deliverables belong solely to you or your company. I may write a case study up about the project to support future marketing of my services but they would be void of any proprietary business intelligence.
What does it cost?
Each project is scoped individually and engagements start at $5,000. Half of the fee is due at the beginning of the project and the remainder is paid upon completion.
Can you help me implement your strategy recommendations?
It depends. If the recommendations are changing the features of your app to offer something unique against your competitors, I can’t write code, so that doesn’t make sense to me. If the recommendation is to reposition your sales and marketing materials then I can support this work under a new scope of work. I love continuing work with teams!
Am I getting access to a database or a service?
Insights as a Service is a consulting service that I provide that is unique to your business needs, not a queryable database. I scope each project individually.
Why are you qualified to do this?
I have worked in public health, healthcare, and digital health for the past 17 years across building product from the ground up, within healthcare systems with clinical innovators and hospital administrators, and with early stage start-ups. These experiences have grown my content knowledge. Within those environments (and through my degrees) I developed my research, strategy, and communication skills. I also have an innate interest in seeing the forest through the trees and helping good ideas grow.
